Recently, Nie Xinxin, a master's student from the School of Creative Design, won the provincial second prize in the Animation category at the 2024 NCDA Future Designer National College Digital Art Design Competition with their work Qinshi—a digital animation innovation design based on Qin culture. This project presents the unique charm of Qin culture by depicting the historical process of Qin's unification of the Six States through animation.
The Future Designer National College Digital Art Design Competition (NCDA) is a national-level university competition that is included in the "National College Discipline Competition Ranking List," recognized by multiple educational departments, and supported by the "Xuexi Qiangguo" learning platform. It also connects to international competitions under the United Nations framework. The competition, which began in 2012, is held annually and has been conducted for 12 consecutive years, making it one of the most significant competitions for universities. Each year, more than 1,800 universities participate, including 95% of the "985" and "Double First-Class" universities, as well as 100% of well-known art institutions.
The competition features four tracks: "Non-Theme," "Public Welfare," "Theme," and "Innovation and Entrepreneurship," covering a wide range of categories such as AIGC, Rural Design, Sustainable Design, Metaverse + Design, Future Design, National Trend · Intangible Cultural Heritage Design, Visual Communication Design, Animation and Video Design, Interactive Design, Human Habitat and Planning Design, Industrial Product Design, Fashion Design, Virtual IP and Emoji Design, Digital Painting, Digital Photography, and Digital Music.
The competition upholds the concept of "Design for the People, Cultivating Future Designers," emphasizing a balance between art and technology, and between academia and public welfare. It promotes sustainable development and green, low-carbon design while preserving red culture and supporting rural revitalization. Students are encouraged to actively participate in innovative design, apply their professional knowledge to serve society, expand their international perspectives, and cultivate team collaboration skills, ultimately becoming future leading designers. The competition has gained recognition from authoritative media like the "Xuexi Qiangguo" learning platform and received praise from United Nations agencies.

This project was an unforgettable experience for me, allowing me to explore and showcase the charm of Qin culture. Throughout the creative process, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to my advisor, Ms. Li Jie, for her meticulous guidance in the key stages of the work, helping me to integrate traditional cultural elements into the digital animation. I am also very grateful to my school and the School of Creative Design for providing the resources and support that enabled me to bring my ideas to life.
