The Music PhD Team from City University of Macau Goes to Guang Da Middle School to Promote Intangible Cultural Heritage Music Culture

On September 19th, in order to warmly celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the 25th anniversary of the return of the Macao Special Administrative Region to the motherland, the Macao Special Administrative Region Government Cultural Development Fund project "Celebrating National Day, Celebrating Return" campus intangible cultural heritage music exhibition and performance activity, Professor Dai Dingcheng, doctoral supervisor of the School of Innovation and Design at the City University of Macau, led the doctoral students in the field of art (music) to enter Guang Da Middle School in Macao.

The theme of this event is to introduce Macau's intangible cultural heritage - Taoist ritual music. Firstly, the event kicked off with the tribute songs "Macau is a Good Place" and "Building Dreams in Macau", composed by Professor Dai Dingcheng from the City University of Macau and written by Assistant Professor Chen Jiahao, with the theme of "Double Celebration". Subsequently, Cui Yiqian, a doctoral student in the field of musicology at the School of Innovation and Design, City University of Macau in 2022, gave a keynote lecture on "Taoist Ritual Music in Macau", and the interaction between teachers and students was enthusiastic at the scene. The teachers of Guang Da Middle School expressed their expectation for more high-level music scholars to enter the secondary school campus and provide students with high-level artistic education.

This event is a successful practice of introducing Macau's intangible cultural heritage into the campus, not only allowing students to understand the Taoist ritual music culture, but also a valuable educational activity of loving the motherland and Macau, which plays an important role in promoting the inheritance and development of Macau's local intangible cultural heritage.
