In response to the development and demands of the design field in Macau, City University of Macau has established a program in design to demonstrate its responsibility towards the city's development and its foresight into Macau's future. This program aims to provide high-quality and innovative professional training in the field of design.

The program emphasizes a balance between theoretical knowledge and practical experience, nurturing students with a solid foundation in design, comprehensive knowledge, and cross-disciplinary design capabilities. It covers teaching and research in related design fields such as architectural design (Landscape Architecture, Vernacular Architecture, Public Art), Product Design (Design Psychology), and Visual Communication Design (Creative Thinking). The overall goal is to establish a comprehensive design education system, develop unique features in various design fields, cultivate design professionals, meet social needs, and fulfill the ideal of professional education.

In line with global trends in design research and domestic demands for enhancing design research, the program integrates scientific, humanities, and artistic principles to deepen research in related fields of design. It aims to drive doctoral teaching through innovative research-oriented education.

Graduates can devote in higher education institutions, research institutions, government agencies, design institutes, and other sectors to engage in design and management work, professional research, etc. Their research may include topics such as design methodologies, design education, architectural design, and further extend to design education and theory, design methodologies and theory, etc.
