Exploring the Perspective of Wind Music in Macau ——Dai Dingcheng and Hong siu Koeng's new monograph " Tracing the History of Wind Bands in Macau (1600-1950) " has been published

In August 2025, the monograph Tracing the History of Wind Bands in Macau (1600-1950) by Professor Dai Dingcheng, a doctoral supervisor in musicology at our faculty, and 24th doctoral student Hong Siu Koeng in musicology will be published by Joint Publishing (Hong Kong) Company Limited. The monograph systematically traces the history of wind music from the seventeenth to the mid-twentieth century and presents contemporary findings, offering a first-time research-based discussion of a wealth of archival materials related to wind music. Through historical evidence and a sense of cultural exchange and mutual learning between the East and West in today's global context, it extends into a significant case study of music history with profound historical, cultural, and academic value. The publication of this monograph not only offers a rich academic foundation for research on Chinese wind music history but also opens the new field of vision for the study of Macau music history and urban music culture.
