Hosted by Chiu Yeng Cultural Limited, the “6075 Poly Macau Hotel Art Fair” was first held in Macau at the Regency Hotel in Macau from 7th to 10th January 2016. This art fair gathered 60 younger artists who were born after the 1975s from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and even abroad. Their artworks as well as the creative inspirations were integrated into 60 guest rooms that personally designed by Ms. Sabrina Ho Chiu Yeng. Remodeled with the artistic atmosphere, the hotel spaces provided a unique experience to all the viewers.
The Mainland Art section included works by artists Chen Lang Mu, Yuan Ze Qiang recommended by Hive Center for Contemporary Art, Wang Mao, Xu Cong recommended by Linda Gallery, He Juan and Fuwahousi recommended by Hwas Gallery. In the Hong Kong & Taiwan Art section, they got the works of art by Tzeng Yong-Ning and Doris Tsuey-Ling Wu from Soka Art Center, Lin Jia Hong recommended by Fish Art Center, Tzeng Shu-Yi recommended by Galerie Pierre, Wu Qi Sui from Jia Art Gallery and 8 younger artists from National Taiwan Normal University. The Macau Art Section included artist Pakeong’s production and the recommendations of Future and Art For All Society Macau.
It was my great honor to participate in such an excellent art fair that collected so many art works from home and abroad. Their elaborately selected art works were perfectly mixed with the scene of hotel rooms, which provided us a fresh and pleasant impression and aroused more imagination.
In the whole, the exhibition focused on a variety of paintings from all over the world showing their diverse styles. I even saw some traditional Indonesian wall painting which truly captured my attention at the moment when I see it.
One of the art works that surprised me were painted by Mr. Liao Xing Jun from Beijing. His ink and wash paintings express a peace, elegant, wispy and ethereal meaning. The serenity conveyed by his paintings contains a detached aesthetic taste, which not only relates to the innocence and nobility in his spirit but also his self-cultivation in traditional culture. The production of Iida Yuko gave me an entirely different impression. Her works are simple but contented, innocent but full of implication. The bold and rough lines did not depict a concrete shape, but incomparably real and laid us a vast room for imagination.
All in all, this exhibition was out of my expectation. Different from the previous ordinary exhibitions, this one even did not have a formal exhibition ground which prompted my doubts. After entering the venue, though informal, the exhibition still had substantial and splendid content. Various of styles and genres of art works continuously became more vivid on sight. And as a result, the informal venue that I just criticize turned out to be creative. If possible, I hope the exhibition could be shown in a more wide and bright area. Due to the limitation of the space, some good works were placed inside the toilet, which is kind of disrespectful from my perspectives. Still, I will definitely recommend my friends to enjoy this fabulous art fair.
