Associate Professor Yao Hongwei Visits Universities in Shanghai to Promote Master’s and Doctoral Programme Admissions

On September 28 and 29, Associate Professor Yao Hongwei from the Faculty of Innovation and Design visited Shanghai to hold admissions information sessions at the music conservatories / schools of three universities: Shanghai Normal University, Shanghai University, and East China Normal University. The sessions aimed to promote our university's Doctor of Philosophy in Arts Studies (The Study of Chinese Music History) and Master of Arts in Art Education (Music) programs.

During the sessions, Associate Professor Yao provided a comprehensive introduction focused on City University of Macau's Ph.D. program in The Study of Chinese Music History, detailing its overall profile, educational features, training models, advantages of enrollment, application procedures, and admission pathways. He also elaborated on the Master of Arts in Art Education (Music) program, covering its pedagogical highlights, progression opportunities, and application eligibility.

The promotional tour concluded successfully at East China Normal University (ECNU), a prestigious "Project 985" university. The leadership of the School of Music at ECNU attached great importance to this event and made meticulous arrangements. Wang Chengwei, Deputy Secretary in charge of student affairs, and Zheng Yan, Associate Dean overseeing graduate studies, scientific research, and international cooperation and exchange (student programs), personally hosted the admissions session and the subsequent academic lecture delivered by Associate Professor Yao upon invitation. They attended the entirety of the sessions and provided concluding remarks. Associate Dean Zheng Yan offered continuous follow-up and strong support from the initial outreach through to the conclusion of the event.

At the end of the event, Associate Professor Yao presented publications on behalf of our Faculty's Macau Urban Music Research Center to the School of Music at ECNU, including the essay collection Tradition and Heritage: Urban Music Research in the Greater Bay Area, edited by Professor Dai Dingcheng. This marked a successful conclusion to the promotional tour in Shanghai and laid a solid foundation as well as opening up promising opportunities for further academic exchanges and cooperation between Shanghai and Macao.

In addition, the School of Music at Shanghai University proactively publicized the information session via its WeChat official account in advance. Ms. Yang Ye, head of graduate academic affairs at the school, coordinated the detailed arrangements and on-site organization. Professor Sun Hongjie from the Music College of Shanghai Normal University also actively promoted the admissions session among undergraduate and master's students and organized them to attend the presentation on site.
