Mastering Cutting-Edge Technology: FIAD Successfully Hosted Tobii Pro Fusion Eye-Tracking Workshop

To enhance the research capabilities of faculty and students in utilizing advanced research tools, the Faculty of Innovation and Design (FIAD) successfully held the "Tobii Pro Fusion Eye-Tracking Training Workshop" on the afternoon of April 20th at the City University of Macau Innovation and Technology Research Center. The event attracted enthusiastic participation from both staff and students, fostering a vibrant academic atmosphere.

Hands-on Practice: Achieving Precision from Theory to Data

The workshop adopted a "small-group teaching" model to ensure that every participant received sufficient guidance. The curriculum was intensive and practical, with key focuses including:

  • Equipment Setup and Environmental Configuration: The instructor provided a detailed demonstration of the Tobii Pro Fusion's high-frequency sampling capabilities and its adaptability to various research environments.
  • System Calibration and Operation: With onsite personnel acting as participants, the instructor demonstrated the entire process, from subject calibration to dynamic data tracking.

  • Data Interpretation and Research Application: During the Q&A session, faculty and students engaged in in-depth discussions with the instructor regarding specific research topics, such as experimental design and user behavior analysis.

Integrating Industry and Research to Broaden Academic Horizons

The workshop was held at the City University of Macau Innovation and Technology Research Center, located in the Lian Sheng Industrial Park, Coloane. By visiting the physical research base of FIAD's specialized laboratory, participants not only mastered technical equipment skills but also gained a direct understanding of how research facilities integrate with industrial applications.

A participating student remarked: "In the past, I only saw eye-tracking data in literature. Today, I finally understood the principles behind data collection. This training has provided me with much clearer ideas for my future experimental designs".

Conclusion: Continuously Driving Research Innovation

Following the successful completion of this training, the Faculty will remain committed to introducing more advanced research technology and equipment workshops. By providing a diversified research support platform, the Faculty aims to help faculty and students produce internationally competitive research outcomes.
