On February 20, 2025, the Bachelor of Design Arts program "Public Art" of the School of Innovation and Design was led by Lecturer Li Mengshun (李孟順) and Assistant Professor Wang Yuya (王俞雅) to visit the "Macau Handover Gifts Exhibition Museum" and the "Poly MGM Museum". Both exhibitions were provided with insightful explanations by professional tour guides.
The "Macao Handover Gifts Exhibition Museum" displays handicrafts with unique local characteristics donated by the central government and various provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities, allowing students to see rare treasures from all over the motherland in one day. With the detailed introduction of professional tour guides, students can understand the profound meaning expressed by each gift and deeply feel the deep affection between the motherland and Macao.
The "Poly MGM Museum" themed exhibition "Blue Ribbon - Explore the Mysterious Sea and Encounter the Treasures of the Silk Road" features exhibits spanning ancient and modern times, from ancient pottery and jade to modern oil paintings and sculptures, including national-level cultural relics such as the four bronze animal heads of the Old Summer Palace. It makes students feel as if they are traveling through the long river of history and feeling the profound heritage of the Silk Road culture. In particular, high-tech exhibition methods, such as OLED screen interactive display cabinets, VR and AR technology, allow students to more intuitively understand the historical background and value of each exhibit, bringing them closer to the cultural relics.
This visit mainly leads students to observe and practice their understanding of public art, and expects students to think about the commonalities between art and the public. The visit not only enriched the diversified teaching of the course and expanded students' academic horizons, but also strengthened students' understanding of social responsibility and sustainable development.
