Recently, Assistant Professor Jing LIU from the Faculty of Innovation and Design at Macao City University was invited to serve as a tutor for the 2024 Design Day Marathon. She led a group of master's students in actively participating in international workshops, achieving multiple awards.

The Design Day Marathon is a significant academic event during Beijing Design Week, jointly initiated by Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology and Beijing Design Society. Supported by the Beijing International Design Week, the UNESCO International Creative and Sustainable Development Center, and the China Clothing Education Association, the event provides a large-scale public international exchange platform for designers worldwide. Since its inception in 2016, the Design Day Marathon has attracted over a hundred universities from more than ten countries to co-host workshops, with more than ten thousand young design students participating. This year's workshops covered eleven topics and included students and experts from over 119 domestic and international universities and design institutions, such as the University of Oxford, Royal College of Art, Tsinghua University, Central Academy of Fine Arts, University of Sydney, Aalto University in Finland, and Istituto Marangoni in Italy. Participants engaged in deep discussions and innovative practices surrounding cutting-edge issues in the design field.

In this year's Design Day Marathon, ten master's students from our school excelled in their respective workshop projects, earning the following honors:

Notably, the gold award-winning project from Jinze Wu's group was selected to participate in the final presentation of the Design Marathon, showcasing innovative insights into design cultural IP.

The Design Day Marathon promotes a "community with a shared future," tackling global development issues and UN Sustainable Development Goals. It creates an interdisciplinary platform through workshops that enhance student-industry interaction and emphasize professional innovation aligned with market needs. With international mentors providing cross-cultural learning, students explore new techniques and gain valuable experience. This event highlights the innovation of our faculty and students, reflecting our commitment to advanced design education and the potential for new value in industry collaboration.
