On October 20, 2018, the“Design for China – The 8th National Environmental Art Design Exhibition and Academic Forum”opening ceremony was held at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts. The event was hosted by the Chinese Artists Association and organized by the Environmental Design Art Committee of the Chinese Artists Association.
The design work“Revitalization Plan for the 2076 Prevision of the Historic District St.Lazarus Parish in Macau” by Zhou Lei, Zhou Haibin, Chen Jingyuan and Du Yimeng from the Faculty of Innovation and Design, City University of Macau was selected into the exhibition, which is the participation from a Macau university for the first time. This work is the outcome of Prof. Wu Yao's research on the Methods of Historic District Renewal and Professor Zhu Rong's research on the Methods of Architectural Heritage Protection. It generated innovative planning and design proposals for the historical district of St.Lazarus in Macau after the in-depth research work that provide an outlook for the development of urban planning and design in Macau that benefits the Macau residents and society.
PhD student Zhou Lei's paper the Rural Landscape Design based on Low Impact Development was accepted and will be published by the conference, which is advised by Professor Wu Yao's and Assistant Professor Ren Yujie's in Urban Sustainable Development Design Theory course.
This exhibition focuses on the hot issues in the current design field. With the theme of“New Era • New Design”, this exhibition explores how environmental art design is informed by the voice of the times and keep pace with the times; how to face the new era; the new task and the new responsibility and challenges, and how to reach design innovation, technological innovation, and innovation in the field.
