With the continuous development of urban construction and renewal in Macau, the demand for high-level urban planning and management professionals has significantly increased. Currently, higher education in Macau has not kept pace with market needs, highlighting the importance of this program in recent years. The program is designed with a strong sense of responsibility towards the development of Macau, recognizing the unique cultural richness and favorable development conditions both internally and externally. The program at the City University of Macau aims to address this need with a focus on urban planning and design, urban renewal techniques and management, and landscape planning and design. It emphasizes research on local Macau culture, promoting in-depth studies in urban planning and design.

The program aims to enhance graduate education through professional and research-oriented teaching, achieving high-level research results in urban planning and management. It seeks to meet the scientific, standardized, and institutional requirements of urban management, addressing the needs for urban development and talent in Macau's planning and management departments.

Graduates will be prepared to enter professional research institutions, government agencies, planning firms, design institutes, planning bureaus, real estate development companies, and more, engaging in planning, design, management, and research work, thereby laying a foundation for further studies. Relevant research areas include urban planning, urban design, landscape design, planning management, and smart city studies. Graduates can also work in arts-related museums, art exhibition halls, protection of cultural relics, archaeological research, exhibition design, and educational outreach.
