“Elegant Music Welcomes the Spring Festival. Warmth for Seniors” — CityU Students Visit the Asilo Vila Madalena for an Outreach Performance

3 February, the Macau Urban Music Research Centre, together with PhD students (class of 2025) in Arts (Musicology) from the Faculty of Innovation and Design, City University of Macau, presented an outreach concert at the Asilo Vila Madalena, offering warm wishes to the residents through live performance. Staged in an intimate salon format, the concert featured a varied ensemble and a programme spanning Chinese and Western repertoires. The event sought to connect university-based research with community service through approachable, tangible musical engagement, and to foster ongoing care and cultural sharing within the local community.

The organisers noted that the performance not only enriched the residents' cultural and emotional well – being, but also conveyed broader social concern for older adults. Similar public-welfare activities will continue in the future—bringing the warmth of the arts to seniors while advancing cultural continuity and social responsibility. The concert was artistically directed by Prof. Dai Dingcheng, Director of the Centre, and was attended by Assoc. Prof. Yao Hongwei (Deputy Director) and Ms. Lam WaiU (PhD Programme Supervisor).
