To further expand our school's international collaboration network and strengthen academic ties with overseas architecture institutions, Assistant Professor Kang from our faculty visited the Architectural Institute in Prague (ARCHIP) from July 21 to 25, 2025. She was invited to participate in ARCHIP's summer school program and carried out a week-long academic exchange on behalf of our school.
During the visit, Kang held in-depth discussions with key members of the ARCHIP summer program team, including program coordinators Jakub Kopecký and Gabriela Pacltová, as well as Vice-Rector Klára Doleželová. The two sides exchanged commemorative gifts and explored future opportunities for student exchanges, joint teaching, and collaborative research. The visit further advanced the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and the student exchange agreement previously signed between the two institutions.
The theme of this year's summer school was "1:1 Pavilion", emphasizing the close integration of design and hands-on practice. Kang participated throughout the teaching and building process, working alongside international students to visit a membrane material workshop, the architecture laboratories at the Czech Technical University, Center for Architecture and Metropolitan Planning, and the DOX Centre for Contemporary Art. She also attended lectures on structural materials and guided exhibition tours. Under the guidance of instructors, students carried out design experiments and jointly constructed several key structural components, demonstrating a holistic "design-to-build" pedagogical approach.
This visit not only deepened our engagement with cutting-edge international architectural education, but also provided valuable experience for our faculty and students to participate in future overseas programs. During the summer school, Kang actively engaged with students to understand their academic backgrounds and learning needs, offering useful insights for the development of tailored international courses at our institution.
The exchange laid a solid foundation for our school to expand architectural education cooperation in Central and Eastern Europe and contributed to new pathways for promoting the internationalization of architectural education.
