On the afternoon of March 5, the Faculty of Innovation and Design held a lecture titled "The Future of Design and Education" in the Cultural Center Exhibition Hall. Prof. Dr. Ken Nah from Hongik University in South Korea, a board member of the World Design Organization and a senior judge of the Red Dot Award, was specially invited to speak to the faculty and students. During the lecture, Prof. Nah used two core questions—"What is design?" and "How to design?"—as starting points to explore the integration of design and education in an engaging and accessible manner.
Prof. Ken Nah is a senior expert in design management and human factors. As an outstanding design educator and practitioner, he actively combines design theory with practice and has successfully carried out various influential design projects. In this lecture, he not only shared several successful brand design cases with the students but also offered his unique insights and suggestions on how to become an excellent designer and educator. He encouraged everyone to develop critical thinking during their studies, to ask questions, and to think deeply.
After the lecture, the atmosphere was vibrant, with students eagerly asking questions and engaging in discussions about the differences between the design industries in China and abroad, as well as how educators can enhance their personal capabilities and drive the design industry towards the future. This lecture provided a valuable opportunity for learning and exchange, broadening students' professional perspectives and inspiring deeper reflection on the future development of the design education industry.
