Macao is an immigrant concentration area, and Iao Hon District has experienced more than 80 years of development. It has a period of decline from the earliest “New Village” in Macao, and the area needs to be activated. So how to maintain the vitality of Iao Hon District during the activation and renewal process, and how to reduce the impacts on citizen’s life and how to promote urban regeneration around broader gate areas that is one of important issues in Macau.

After the fieldtrip, students have a deeper understanding of the urban renewal issues in Macau, which will help them to explore the further urban renewal in Macao.
