On the afternoon of September 14, the Faculty of Innovation and Design (FIAD) of City University of Macau hosted a special lecture entitled "Digital Art in the Intelligent Age" at Ho Yin Convention Centre HG02. Huang Xinyuan, Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at the Communication University of China, was invited as the keynote speaker. The lecture focused on the evolution of digital art, emerging forms of creative practice, and educational transformation in the context of the rapid development of artificial intelligence, offering students and faculty an opportunity for in-depth academic exchange.

During the lecture, Professor Huang traced the development of digital art from simulation and real-time production to intelligent creation, drawing on the evolution of the field as well as examples of academic programme restructuring. He highlighted how artificial intelligence technologies, including AIGC and large-scale AI models, are transforming digital content production through advances in computing power, algorithms, and creative approaches. Through examples from animation, games, and other forms of digital media art, he explored how intelligent technologies are expanding the boundaries of artistic creation and discussed the diverse value of games as "super digital scenarios" in contemporary digital culture and artistic practice.

In terms of talent cultivation and educational practice in digital art, Professor Huang further shared his observations on the changes brought about by the integration of AI tools into art and design education. From the perspectives of programme development, creative methodologies, and teaching models, he discussed the new demands that intelligent technologies are placing on digital art education. In particular, he highlighted the transformation of traditional design disciplines in the intelligent age and their future development prospects, providing valuable insights into how art and design education can respond to ongoing technological change.

The lecture offered FIAD students and faculty new perspectives on the integration of artificial intelligence and digital art, while providing valuable inspiration for educational reform, programme development, and innovative practice in art and design disciplines in the intelligent age. FIAD will continue to engage with emerging developments in artificial intelligence, digital media, art and design, build high-level platforms for academic exchange, and promote interdisciplinary knowledge exchange and innovation in teaching and research.
