On August 19, 2026, Miao Lin Studies the Arts, a special program on China National Radio (China Media Group), broadcasted a feature report titled "Miao Lin Studies the Arts: Approaching Banggudong". The program featured an exclusive interview with Huang Jing, a provincial representative inheritor of Fujian's 5th batch of Intangible Cultural Heritage items ("Banggudong") and a 2025-cohort PhD student in Arts Studies (The Study of Chinese Music History) at the Faculty of Innovation and Design of City University of Macau (CityU). 

Banggudong is the only genre of yugu daoqing (bamboo-drum ballad singing) distributed exclusively within Fujian Province. During the interview, host Miao Lin visited the Huang Family Ancient Residence at Putian University (Zixiao Campus), joining Huang Jing to explore the historical background and artistic characteristics of this millennium-old performing art. Huang Jing shared the unique charm of Banggudong with the national audience, noting that its accompanying instrument, the yugu (bamboo drum), measures only about 35 centimeters. Known for its high-pitched, clear tone, the genre follows a vocal style where "tunes are not fixed, pitch is flexible," and melodies strictly adapt to the tonal nuances of spoken characters, creating a distinct artistic style where "a hundred performers sing in a hundred unique ways". She also opened up about her personal journey—from feeling self-conscious about her local Putian dialect during childhood to ultimately embracing her native tongue and devoting half her life to preserving this ancient art form. 

As a PhD student at CityU, Huang Jing continues to foster dialogue between Banggudong and global civilizations under the guidance of her supervisor, Professor Dai Dingcheng, whose academic perspective bridges Eastern and Western traditions. Her appearance on a national media platform not only honors her lifelong commitment to her craft, but also marks Banggudong's transition from local performance spaces to a broader stage, contributing Macao's strength to the contemporary inheritance of fine traditional Chinese culture.
