Historic Heritage Preservation Conference South China (Macao) 2016

Nowadays, most people think of Macao as a gambling city.

In reality, there are many historic scenery spots and sites in Macao. From churches to dwellings, streets to squares, and museums to cemeteries, places with a history of more than 600 years, as well as their stories, can be found all over the city.

If there is a place in the world which is loved by both angel and devil, it is Macao. By way of adventurers and visionaries, churches and Poker, Macao shows various faces and strengths to the world. This unique historical culture has long influenced the life and spirit of locals in Macao - there are few places like Macao where people have a love-hate relationship with the city they live in. All of these elements undoubtedly form parts of Macao's 600-year heritage.

Thanks to efforts of the government of Macao and various circles, Macao became a UNESCO World Heritage Site on 15 July, 2005.

Just like the history of Macao, conservation efforts happening now encounter challenges and disputes, and are likely to continue so.

HHPCSC2016 hopes to work with all walks of life toward the conservation of Macao's historic heritage, to exhibit to the public this heritage and the endeavors of the Macao people toward heritage conservation.
